Got these today from Tony.
This is Bob C's Ambrosia maple, with an Engelmann top.
The rosette is some spalted Ambrosia, as is the tail wedge and heel cap. Neck is in my shop being finished with nitro, and we're hoping against hope that the body and neck "go together".

Sorry for the size of these, but thanks for looking.

Steve

Great looking guitar...nice color scheme.

I love the color of that Englemann. Stripey is cool! I have some like that, and really love it.

Wow, Steve
That is beautiful. I've seen some nice bowls turned from that Box Elder but never a guitar. Can't wait to see it all together. Nice.

You got pics from Tony/Jill today and I got a bill from him....
Hesh, I'm pretty sure bill time is right around the corner for me as well.

Thanks for the kudos, guys. Of course, this guitar is a gamble, and will not appeal to a huge lot of people.
For example, I can think of three strikes against it already (at least as far as our British friends are concerned):
1) It isn't a dread
2) It doesn't use Sitka
3) It isn't sunbursted
Perhaps I should apologize?

I just hope the buyer doesn't come to his senses before we close the deal!

Steve

Serge
Thanks, Serge. The binding is Bloodwood, and the purfling is black /Bloodwood / black, purchased from BobC.
The decorative scheme is borrowed from the first picture of this stuff ever posted on his site...I just went straight with his ideas. For those of you who don't like it, blame the Zootman!!

Thanks Steve, Ambrosia maple is now at the top of my list of "must have" along with blood wood bindings! Or perhaps save loads of money and buy this one from you and save the trouble of building such a jewel! Hmmmmm...

I disagree, good work appeals to everybody. There may be a certain penchent, but work this good cant' be frowned on!

So, I blame the "Zootman" for the nice combo? It's done!

Steve,

3 strikes and you're out right?

Fabulous looking woods and really nice guitar. Your client should be thrilled!!

Where does the term ambrosia come from for wood? Isn't it the food/drink of the Greek Gods? It also brings back childhood memories of some rather nasty Rice Puddings.

But I could lap up that figure every day Dave White38854.1095717593

Steve

Another superb guitar from the Kinnaird Stable

Beautiful, especially knowing how much work went into preparing that set.

Stunning work and I love the ADI.

No Strikes here just a Home Run or if you want a proper sport analigy GOAL !!!!!

Steve I'm sorely disappointed in you! If it had been a sunbursted, sitka topped, Dred I'd have offered to top the client's price for it. But it's such an ugly guitar as it stands that I'm not interested anymore.

Truthfully, there have been a number of guitars posted on the forum that I would dearly covet, Russell's London plane, Joshua's cypress, Dave's Cedar/Maple, John's #34 etc, that ambrosia maple guitar of yours gets added to the list.

An interesting story about this wood. When I first came across these boards I thought WOW this could make for an interesting guitar. There were two varieties. The pink and a brown/blue. The streaks are trails left by the Ambrosia beetle. I put some on my website and Steve inquired about this set. Unfortunatly it was on hold for another customer. Several weeks passed and I never heard from that customer. I e-mailed Steve and asked him if he wanted that set. Needless to say his answer was yes. I can tell you that I am thrilled that this set landed in the talented hands of Steve. IMHO the Kinnaird Bros. are excellant builders and a class act.
Thanks Steve and John.

$100 says someone will ask you if you painted those "designs" on there...
